DREAM: IN Brazil is a project that aims to identify new business opportunities and public policies inspired by dreams of the common man.
The method was introduced in January 2011 as a co-creation of José Carlos Teixeira, Brazilian Professor at Parsons The New School for Design in New York, and Sonia Manchanda, Indian designer and co-founder of Idiom Design and Consulting in Bangalore, India .
The Institute Vivarta (Civil Society Organization of Public Interest) brought the project to Brazil.
More than 200 students from six Brazilian universities have been collecting dreams and aspirations of the common man in various regions of the country. The universities participating are: PUC – Rio de Janeiro, ESPM – São Paulo; Unisinos – Porto Alegre, Brasília – Brasília; UEMG – Belo Horizonte; UFMA – São Luís.
The collected dreams will the raw material for a meeting, the National Conclave, a 3 day event, that will be held in ESPM – Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing – São Paulo, on August, 9th, 10th and 11th, 2012.
During the National Conclave, big dreamers, leaders and students will watch the collected dreams and sketch new business ideas and public policies. The material will be available in open platform, and anyone who is interested in implementing these ideas will have the chance to do it.
